Are you really ready for divorce?

No matter how long you have been married, moving forward with a divorce can bring a lot of stress to your life.

Since this is such a big decision, you don't want to take it lightly. You need to know exactly what this means, including how it will change your life in the months and years to come.

Understanding if you are truly ready for divorce is half the battle. Here are some questions you can address:

  • Do you still have feelings for your spouse?
  • Have you given other options a try, such as counseling?
  • Are you ready for divorce, or simply using the threat as a way to get what you want?
  • Does your spouse feel the same way as you?
  • Are you making a decision based on your long term feelings, or something that recently happened?
  • Do you really know the reason why you are thinking about divorce?
  • Have you talked to your spouse about divorce, as to get his or her thoughts on the relationship and whether or not this is the best way to move forward?

By answering these questions, you'll find it easier to determine if you are truly ready for divorce.

If you find that it's time to move forward, discuss this with your spouse in an attempt to get everything out in the open. Once you are on the same page in regards to getting a divorce, you can learn more about the process and your legal rights.

It's never easy to get through, but once your divorce is in the past you can turn your attention to the future.
